Supplement current channels of exposing country’s diversified tourism products and services to different audiences.
While unveiling the platform yesterday (23/03/2015) East African Affairs Commerce and Tourism Cabinet Secretary Mrs. Phylis Kandie noted that the move fits well with the strategy of improving Kenya’s Tourism competitiveness by identifying more channels to reach a wider audience.
The directory domiciled at the revamped Magical Kenya website targets local, regional, international travel and tourism providers who now have a business opportunity to easily make contacts and explore partnerships with the listed providers.
With the support of World Bank Group, Industry and the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) , the directory has been divided into three (3) thematic areas that is ; attractions, accommodation facilities and tour operators.
The platform will be under constant review and updates to ensure that new products are vetted and uploaded on-line.
According to the CS, the directory will accord the opportunity to the Counties to showcase their diverse and unique attractions existing in their regions. “This will therefore go a long way in our strategy of showcasing our diverse tourism products” she added.
KTB Managing Director called upon the industry to participate in the directory listings by uploading new contents so as to make it dynamic and current.
“We have not locked out those we who have not been captured in the directory at the moment, the listing is open to all of you to come on board,” says Ndegwa
The unveiling of this directory comes a month after a joint partnership between Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) and an online booking platform; Jovago.com.
Under the partnership, accommodation facilities get online booking by both local and international clients with the integrated booking between KTB’s destination website; Magical Kenya and Javago.com.
