MKTE 2024 Launch

MKTE 2024 Official Launch

Thursday 4th July 2024.

The 14th Edition of the Magical Kenya Tourism Expo was officially launched during a breakfast that brought together sponsors, partners and media to launch MKTE 2024 that is set for October 2024.

The event was graced by PS of the State Department of Tourism Hon. John Ololtuaa. Speaking during the launch, he said "MKTE has over the years created linkages and partnerships between local tourism enterprises and regional and international source markets. This has opened up new opportunities that have seen tremendous growth of local businesses in the tourism value chain. As a ministry, we recognize the immense potential that MKTE offers, especially to MSMEs in the tourism sector looking to establish themselves globally".

This year, MKTE returns as a standalone expo after a successful joint expo last year with the East African Regional Tourism Expo (EARTE), which offered the EAC member states an opportunity to network and explore new tourism business opportunities. Last year, we proudly hosted over 3,000 delegates, showcasing Kenya's diverse tourism offerings to the world. Our target for 2024 is even more ambitious—we aim to attract 5,000 attendees. This substantial increase will further solidify MKTE’s status as the premier travel trade fair in East Africa.

KTB CEO, June Chepkemei built on this sentiment saying, "This year, we are looking to increase hosted buyers from new source markets such as Americas – Brazil and Mexico; Asia – Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Australia besides the key source markets in Europe and Africa, in line with our destination diversification strategy".

The 14th Edition of MKTE will  be held on 2nd - 4th October 2024 at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi.
